Exemplar material for education authorities

A measure of the impact of the programme is the appearance of IiS resources, as
exemplar material, on the websites of national and local education authorities.

The DfES Standards website hosts a number of units based on the novel, Four Kids, Three Cats, Two Cows, One Witch (maybe) by Siobhán Parkinson published by the O'Brien Press, showing how to deliver the Key Stage 3 English Stratety: two units on the text for Year 7 and Year 8, and the third on researching Ireland for Year 7.

Examples of curriculum innovation in History appear on the QCA website. One introduces Grace O'Malley as an alternative to Florence Nightingale in primary schools. The other outlines the determination of a group of secondary History teachers in Nottingham to rise (successfully) to the challenge of teaching Northern Ireland to teenagers.

Birmingham's Learning Grid is now carrying 'Ireland in Schools' study units. In Staffordshire, the educational support service, QLS, even has a number of Ireland in Schools web pages in order to encourage good practice in Citizenship, English, Literacy, English and History. Happily, says QLS, 'these pages are amongst the most popular with visitors ... with many of the files getting about 80-100 downloads a month. Visitors come from the US and
Ireland as well as UK.'
